The challenges are in the supply, because many large companies only produce long runs that come out of the budget of the entrepreneurs who are starting out.
The objective is for entrepreneurs to acquire machinery or packaging that adapts to their needs.
Small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) constantly deal with the cost of packaging, packaging or packaging their products, mainly because to acquire a box or container that adapts to their needs, they have to order very large runs strong>that exceed their production capacities and budget.
For many years the industry was dedicated to meeting the needs of the largest companies in the country, since a personalized print run ranges from 300,000 to 500,000 pieces, leaving aside the requirements of small companies, which According to their production capacities and budget, they usually acquire an average of 3,000 to 6,000 units.
But understanding what consumer trends are and with the development of technology, this sector seeks to offer new solutions that allow entrepreneurs to acquire machinery or packaging that adapts to their needs.
“For SMEs, some of the challenges are in supply issues, because many large companies only produce long runs, what we are looking for is the integration of the entire chain so that short runs are generated, which Today they are possible thanks to digitalization, industry 4.0, so we intend for this to positively impact these companies that need more personalized attention,” said Gabriel Santos, president of the Mexican Packaging Association.
In this sense, at the EXPO PACK Guadalajara, which took place in the state of Jalisco from June 13 to 15 and brought together more than 700 companies that presented advances and solutions that can be offered to the pymes.
“Within the exhibition we requested that companies carry two logos, one for 'SMEs', this means that they provide specific support for them; Whether it is technical support, advice, mentoring or print runs that adapt to your needs, and the second was 'expo green pack', which are the companies that are working on sustainable materials, there is a very big commitment on the part of the industry in improve in this aspect,” mentioned Celia Navarrete González, Director of EXPO PACK.
The perfect bottle
For an SME that is starting out and that produces some liquid, creating a bottle, bottling its product or labeling it on a large scale can be an investment that is almost impossible to make if it is understood that to get a print run requires an order for hundreds of miles of parts, but Grupo Laser decided to change the landscape and become an accessible option for those companies that are looking to grow.
“Since we started this company, the intention was that through our machinery and technology we would have the possibility of creating small print runs, personalized and focused on the needs of each company, which gave us the opportunity to serve the market of SMEs. There is a company called Sanol Foods, which sells olive oil, they started by buying 3,000 bottles from us and today they buy more than 300,000 a month from us, so we know the market and the intention is to offer them quality at reasonable prices,” said Sergio Pérez, director. general of Grupo Láser.

Accessible machinery
With the intention of offering small business owners the possibility of purchasing packaging, packaging and labeling machinery, HUAPAQ was born, a Mexican SME that is importing machinery with Italian technology, which offers the installation and implementation of the equipment necessary for its operation, in addition to technical training and preventive maintenance, since its founders, Alex Florio and Franco Guzmán, worked in larger companies that do it on a larger scale.
"We realized that many companies do not have access to this machinery because the maintenance and training needed for the machines to operate correctly is very expensive. With us they can purchase machinery that ranges from 80,000 pesos to four million. and in any case, they will have the guarantee that they will be provided with the technical advice necessary to operate it and that we will provide them with the preventive maintenance package to avoid any problem,” said Alex Florio, founder and sales director. from HUAPAQ.
This is just the first step of their project, since their intention is to gradually create their own machinery with Mexican components, making it even more accessible to acquire one of their equipment.
